What suggestions do you have for making WestWind Airlines better?
be carefull with too many too young persons in management.
More FSX planes
More FSX aircraft (gee, bet I'm not the first) I always thought it would be good to have a "flying partner" NOT A CO-PILOT, just a Westwind buddy to look out for and to descuss things.. you know? so we become more friendly
None
More frequent fly ins. Fewer aircraft.
Introduce the mapping feature the Qantas Virtual Airlines has that records flight paths. Increase the amount of aircraft for FSX.
Management oversite of teamspeak
Perhaps a pilot "union" representative could be added to the Executive Commitee?
Provide a really informative forum. I seldom post but I learn a lot from some of the forums in the flight sim world.
None at this time.
Quicker updating of some of the web pages. For example, I have been exclusively using MS FSX since it's release and I wuld love to have the Westwind Training Centre at Denver, but the scenery is only available for old versions of Flight sims. Pages directed to new recruits have lots of references to Flightsim 98!!!!!!!!
Flying on line interaction sharing ip addresses like fs default multiplayer used to do; I think it was mszone.com?. My computer is overloaded with vatsim so I fly by myself offline, but I enjoy the flights from the flight log. Just a thought.
Need more FSX Westwind aircraft. I'm not complaining, as I know theY are coming. Also Ssme vendors still working on prime FSX aircraft, like PMDG NG 737's. However, ATR 72 has been released. I wish I could help!
Training- there was an attempemt to do some IFR training a few months ago but it kind of fell off.
I'm not complianing its a failure from both sides (trainers-trainees) and I realise it would be a big commitment,
but I think some regular formal training would give alot of confidence to newbees (like me) to improve. And in my
opinion help with retention of new pilots.
Nothing - for now.
Otherwise I would publish in the forum
I would suggest some routes to Sacramento and to Ontario, CA. I would enjoy those. I really love some of the changes that you guys have been making to really try to make the airline better. Anything that promotes the airline and people interacting and learning and loving flight simming is appreciated.
Fly-in's for new CAT II and above pilots to get a feel.
leave it how it is
Identify the PIRP on the homepage
Can't think of any off-hand. Very satisfied with the company.
None right now
Provide as many different ways for people to enjoy themselves as possible.
I realy dont know! I thinks its a great place to Fly!!
Addition of new aircraft to the fleet.
In terms of new FSX aircraft... I hope we can get more commercial aircraft soon. Especially the Airbus fleet.
Training school for all CAT pilots we are all learning(on VATSIM), More group fly-ins, ability to have flights scheduled (some people prefer the freedom and some having set assignments-im both)
I think it would be fun to have more group fly-ins online and even some training seminars, if that is possible, online. It would be helpful to fly certain routes and have an expert provide aid or critique different phases of the flight. At one time, someone had mentioned online training flights, but I guess this never came about (the newer versions of FS come with multiplayer online training, but I don't know how effective this is).
Like pretty much everything.
nothing
I can't think of anything.
Create a FSX Mission, such as a checkride.
Add a few events.
Keep up what you are doing. If it isn't broke don't fix it. LOL
I think you are doing a fine job.
New liveries possibly, a little bit more control within the community (Main guys talk to hub managers, then make sure all pilots complain to hub managers, not the main guys).
well i think there should be cargo planes for cat1
I see that Management is doing a great job, now with the forums all is there for the active regular pilot and the not so regular pilot you can make it so active as you want it your self.
I see no problems. only I have less time to enjoy more WWA flying.
At least making an attempt to reduce download size. I understand this is not always easy as some models are just large in size and there is nothing you can do about that.
Add flight planning tools, don't release aircraft into the library that are buggy (I know it's looking a gift horse in the mouth, but I think I'd prefer less choice and a more reliable/accurate fleet).
Not sure at this time
None, really! This airline has come a long way in the four (coming up on five!) years since I've joined. There have been many improvements in just the past year or so, which has resulted in many new members, and our community is thriving and active. I can't imagine what else anyone could want that would make this airline better than it is now.
Spruce up/upgrade the hub sites, or at least personalize them to some extent.
I would like to see a few more hubs.... kcle?
I like variety in aircraft, flight scenery and departure/arrive procedures.
more routes mor hubs
N/A
FSPax integration
Keep it how it is
See above
Maybe giving altitudes for the flights.
I am new at WW but I've been simming since the mid 90's as ever I've alwways try to keep current and have recently upgraded to FSX. I've read, in some other FS forums, about the checkrides and lessons and how difficult they are to pass etc etc so for the first time since FS98 I had a look PPL not bad but not that easy CPL hard failed this so many times IFR very hard to pass but after lots of attempts passed trying out the APL now. I think that the lessons are good and the checkrides are excellent and prove the abilty of the sim pilot. It is true they do take time to pass but that is how it should be! My point is WW should use this excellent system it is ready to go and new pilots should prove they have the PPL then say after 10 hrs start CPL and af some more hrs building APL. So in short I think we should use the sim pilot training and certification as per MSFS.
None, you guys are the greatest, I love my job!
I have none at this time
I think WestWind should be more active, maybe creat another hub or add big sleet etc.
Some thing who will atrract new pilot's here.
Maybe some more helicopters (like an own fleet with own flightplans, scenery) : Augusta 109, EC120B Kolibri, EC135, EC145, Bell 407, Ecureuil AS350, Aérospatiale SA-319 Alouette III, Aérospatiale SA 332 Super Puma, Aérospatiale SA 360 Dauphin, ...
Monthly meetings, either on Teamspeak or some kind of chat channel. This would be a way to get ahold of everyone and make sure everyone who is in charge of something here is on the same page. Other than that, though, the way this place operates is a standard everyone else should follow.
i would like to see flight assignments from the hub manager to the pilots instead of picking my own flights.
Expand the ranking system to something besides Cat.1, Cat.2, etc. Something along the lines of a military system with colored badges and rank emblems.
Not much, maybe just a couple more aircraft with VC
None at this time, as I am always seeing and expericing new things from many of WestWind's talented members.
If the "club" or "organisation" or whatever you want to call it is to remain as professional as ever, you have to seriously look at the ages/maturity of some people in management positions. I also think the minimum number of flight hours required for management need to be looked at. "Management duty" hours should not be counting towards the minimum monthly hour requirements (but still should be loggable)
WTC for FSX
This contradicts my answer to question one but here goes. I dont know who would want to do it with the way we are structured. Flight Assignments for Cat I pilots up until they reach Cat II would be a suggestion. The AHM would give the pilot their next assignment after the previous flight had been logged through FD and filled in all the fields with flight details to basically keep tabs on how they are adjusting to a new plane and to give the new pilot some guidance. Once he/she reached Cat II they are on their own!! Just a thought
None really.
Just mantain the pilots flexibility and provide assistance for the new pilots.
I think they should have more downloads for FS2002 and FSX.
A FSACARS/FSPAX plug-in for the website.
So far everything is awesome
We should make our scheduals more life like including a reasonalbe number of different flights between the same cities. For example we should have about 10 different flights between Dallas and Houston.
more women.
We need to screen pilots better and provide better training - too much about Westwind is "honor system" with regards to hours and checkrides, etc. Also, I would like to see more steps taken to encourage the use of VATSIM, but at the same time couple this with better training and standards management to ensure that the pilots who fly on VATSIM are doing so correctly.
HOST SESSIONS ON FS-X MULTIPLAYER ON-LINE UNDER AIRLINES,WEST WIND). HAVE SOMEONE FROM VATSIM CONTROLERS THERE TO HELP US IN?
EVERY DAY 9A.M. CENTRAL TIME THERE IS A HONOLULU FLIGHT OPENED TO ALL PLAYERS,(FREE FLIGHT) WE NEED AIR TRAFIC CONTROLER HELPING US IN TO AIRPORT. OR SEE ABOVE AND HOST A SESSION? :-)
Easier to download the Concord aircraft.
try to set up some weekly fly ins like fed ex and other airlines do
None that I can think of.
None at the moment;
The management and those high up in the rankings need to have a public face. They need to talk and discuss things with the pilots, rather than just making decisions among themselves.
Allow hub managers and assistant hub managers provide information to their respective pilots. This will allow the pilots to express concerns and/or other solutions back in a logical and semi-formal way. No one person has all the answers, and by sensing the cockpits and the daily information managers, some issues or solutions might be brought to the upper management's awareness.
I have not been on here long enough to make a suggestion. I think everything is working well so far!
mabey make te checkride process more in-depth. there is a program that better recoreds videos than the one fs comes with. after all some pilots are not very good, and may give WW a bad rap.
It would be nice to set up monthly group flights, all from a specific airport and just be able to follow instruction of a flight leader! That would be very cool
I would like to see more European hubs and routes
Wouldn't change a thing. It has been vastly improving as time goes along all on its own. I can't think of anything that I would want to see changed.
Consolidate.
Most area's of flight are covered. Passenger/cargo/charter
Most types of planes are covered
On line/off line flying is covered
Splitting it much more just creates more work for those providing these services.
I think we need a larger and more organized presence on VATSIM.
Not too much. I think WWAL is about the best there is. I truly mean that.
More communications. Wipe out PIREPs. More pilots to fly on VATSIM and more pilots and management to come on Teamspeak
N/A
update aircraft library
Tough question, I mainly fly offline and in that way don't think that anything is particularly amiss.
Make more interactive "dispatch" system (with humans involved in the process)
keep it up you guys are great
N/A
ACARS recording of all flights required for hours verification. More on line events.
Make online flying mandatory for pilots who have ability to do so, as well as teamspeak.
above
Let us know which aircraft have VC's so we don't have to download, install, uninstall and delete the aircraft that don't have VC's.
Make more charter schedule like KATL did for the Atlanta Braves
How about inception dates for new routes? That way we'll know if they're new or not. Sortable by inception date too.
Maybe to promote WW some more post some highlight videos on Youtube on where we're currently flying.
Hmmm, I like what is going on, so keep adding and improving aircraft and scenery together with easy instructions/methods of downloading and saving on your computer
Afte rseeing some posts on FS Flight Tracker a while back I tried it out and it makes things very easy to fill out my log when signing in a flight. It would be nice for WWAL to support the feature that allows the auto-file feature of FS Flight Tracker. I fully understand that it would be dependent on time/resources and how many pilots are using FS Flight Tracker.
adding more cargo daily cargo routes and setting up fly ins twice or more a year would be nice
I would really enjoy a bidding system and perhaps a random trip planner as an option. I would love to be able to get a laid out schedule and be told to fly here and there instead of just picking and choosing where i want to go.
More work on scheduling so a HM can easily see how a scheduling change affects the connecting flights
Close Seattle and Salt lake city hubs. Close those mini hub things that the teenage kids opened. Why isn't Westwind having online vatsim flights?
None, I think it is pretty cool
Management is always thinking ahead adn improving the systems, I can't really tink of anything
More emphasis on training
None
I'd like to see more integration for those interested.. such as FSACARS and/or better scheduling and dispatch methods.
expand routes and give routes for pilots
