Hello Toronto Pilots,

In times of high fuel cost I have started a process of looking at the Toronto hub routes to see what routes will be removed or a change to  some routes to aircraft size to meet the proper capacity. Any changes will be posted in this thread. Please feel free to post your thoughts and ideas.

I have one idea (not exactly brilliant) but still good:

I'm currently flying WestWind route #6173 (CYYZ - CYQR)

I believe this could be changed to a regional jet as opposed to a narrow body route (in real life the route is operated by Air Canada Jazz with a CRJ-700).

But then again if you want maximum pax in one go then NB is the way to go but really economically (and fuel wise) - it should be RJ...

You are dead on the money as I am making a list and the YYZ YQR flight will be an RJ flight and I will be removing the NB from this route. Keep up the good work and if you have any other ideas please let me know.

Funnily enough - I've just finished that particular route in the MD-81 (ignoring my rather hasty comments about the handling of that aircraft) - still had like 60 - 70% fuel left in its tanks both ways (and that was running at normal cruise speed). Think there was about 120 people on board. But as you said - I'll keep my eyes out  - seeing as I am going down the routes by Flight#...
