Me and my big mouth, I get finished in the other thread talking about how few engine failures I've had............
At 22:15z a WestWind Cargo A300F4-600R reported a precautionary shutdown of the #2 (right) engine due to an uncontrollable increase in oil temperature. The aircraft was operating WWC flight 356B enroute from ESSA to LKPR. The shutdown occured during the descent into LKPR. The aircraft landed uneventfully at 22:35z, ARFF equipment (the fire trucks) was requested by the crew prior to landing. Upon block in at LKPR the crew performed a quick inspection of the aircraft, and discovered significant evidence that one or more birds had been ingested by the #2 engine. Blade damage was visible on the inlet fan, and it is unsure how much, if any, internal damage the engine may have suffered. The aircraft has been removed from service.
Well there you go two shutdowns in about a week, I really hope this isn't the start of a trend for me........now to go fill out all the blasted paperwork.....if anyone is interested we could use a GE CF6-80C2A5 over here in LKPR, there should be one in either London, Frankfurt or Amsterdam (for some reason maintenance here in Prague doesn't have any A300 engines in stock), would make for a nice easy cargo charter.......
