I flew a flight from SLC to IAH before the storm, so I've been stuck for a couple of days.  Looks like IAH is open for business today (9/15).  HOU is slated to open on Tuesday.

On a side note, I live in Louisville, KY and we got some of the leftovers from Ike yesterday.  Huge windstorm... Wind gusts up to 80 mph and lots of trees and powerlines down.  SDF was closed for a couple of hours yesterday.  Bottomline, I might head back to the friendly confines of DEN... Until winter that is.

Since my daughter was riding the storm out in Houston Friday evening, in the closet of their home and myself feeling terrible I couldn't be there. I thought I would take the G550 for flight into IAH  2300 GMT. Vatsim had Ctr and App online. without saying it was hectic for the APP controller. Missed landings at all the region airports. I did get lined up for the ILS rwy 8. With AS6 had a steady wind 040@36. 1 mi from threshold was picking up gusts of 48knts!! The controller just said "I'm out of here your all on your own." Took half the rwy but got her down, with much left rudder! I think my joystick paid the price!!  My daughter survived the storm, quite shaken!

If GE CF6-80C2B8F engines were attached to a typical automobile, at takeoff power the car would accelerate from zero to 60 mph (96.5 kph) in less than .5 seconds.
