All that sounds good. I think I will defer to you on this takeoff issue and not use the autothrottles. No biggie. It also might help, as you said, if I could just get the correct N1 setting. I think I tried 95% and that was not enough.

Let me know when you need me to do something else.

Yea, I saw that on POSKY's site this morning and downloaded it so I can check it out.  The POSKY 777 when you download it includes an fde specifically for FSX along with the fs9 version.  It looks right now like we'll be able to roll this thing out for both sims........just waiting on them to release the paint kit.......

Re: Project OpenSky 777-200LR for FSX

    Update, September 30, 2008:

I think we have a winner on our hands as far as the fde is concerned.  I have been flying Corey Fords excellent Continental Airlines paint on a 777-200ER for testing, and with the new fde patch and some of our own tweaks mentioned earlier, the plane flies really well.  The-200LR also flies really well, I haven't applied the fde patch to that one yet.......

On the -200ER I switched back to the original points for the gear location as I didn't like how the new ones made the aircraft sit on the ramp.

Good news on the paint front.  Yosuke at POSKY posted yesterday that he is preparing the paint kit, he even posted a screenshot of an all white 777.  I think we'll see the paintkit from POSKY within the next week or so......

The only problem, really more a slight issue, I am having right now is localizer tracking by the autopilot in a heavy crosswind.  This may be an FS limitation or issue rather than an issue with the fde, but it neads a little more testing.  I tested crosswind approaches at Sydney on runway 25 with a 36 knot almost direct crosswind.  The aircraft drifts downwind of the localizer and the autopilot just doesn't take a big enough cut to get back on the localizer, so you end up flying in parallel to the localizer by about 1/2 dot......

Guess I was wrong there.......this was caught by the company photgrapher in Denver this afternoon, before the hangar doors could be closed again.....

I'll just have to see how far I can get, I'm on the road right now....

Re: Project OpenSky 777-200LR for FSX

Well, apparently painting is like riding a bike.  Took about 15 minutes to knock the rust out of my head and then another 45 to an hour to produce this:

I realize there is no WW Star on the forward doors.  I kind of like the look that way, but I am open to comments, it wouldn't be hard to go back and add it in.

Hopefully I'll be able to knock out the 777-200ER tomorrow.  The only bummer with the paint kit so far is there are no textures for the freighter version......

No promises on a release date yet.  The part of this that I am really rusty at is building the install files.......let's just leave it at coming soon to a hangar near you.....

    Looks nice!!!

You are the boss on the star issue. Call it the way you see it. I am OK with whatever you decide.

    Mike,

How big a file attachment can your e-mail handle?  I really only need to send you 7 textures right now and they are about 1mb each.  I'll send 7 emails if I have to.......I need to check out night textures still, and make sure the windows, etc... are all lined up correctly.....

Wow!! Thats one beautiful aircraft!!! Great Job Kim!! Concerning, the star on the door, I don't think it matters that much. There already looks like theres something on the door so I think you should leave it the way it is. Again, thats a great job and one beautiful aircraft, can't wait to take it to the skies!!

I don't know the answer to that. I have never had anyone bust the limit so go for it if you like. I am with Cox so if anyone handles it they probably will.

Downloaded the textures per the instructions. They look perfect, even at night. The only problem I am having is that the paint is still slow but I don't think that is going to get any better on my system. Everything looks first rate and I could find nothing to even comment on except how good she looks in WW colors!!

If you want help with the installer, let me know. I would like to learn that process. If I knew how to do it, I might repackage some of the downloads with fixes that have been identified. Emphasis on MIGHT.

That's could be because the paint hasn't had enough time to dry! Geeked

Mike or Kim, could you send me the textures, I'll give it a quick try on my PC to see if it does lag or not!
