Re: Project OpenSky 777-200LR for FSX

I still get a little lag on my system too (in FS9), but it happens mostly in fairly dense scenery areas (like JFK), so I think it is a system issue for me as well and not a texture issue.  Glad to hear they look good in FSX also, James I'll get them to you tonight......(as soon as I finish typing this).....

I need one of you guys to check the 777-200ER also, shouldn't be an issue though since the two airplanes share every texture except engines and wings......

Mike did the thumbnail thingy work?  Do you get a little picture of the plane (from about the wing fwd) when you go to the aircraft selection menu?

As for the installer, shouldn't be too hard for me to do the FS9 one assuming I have all the stuff on my system still.  The FSX one though I'm going to need someone to do that since I don't have FSX.  I need to find a better 2-d panel for fs9, if I can.  I also need to hunt for a better sound set for FS9, the one I am using is older, and there may be something better by now........

    Yes, the thumbnail worked.

Remember, unless you know something I don't, we still don't have the VC installed for FSX. I have not played with it at all. I am not sure what you get when you attempt to look at the VC. The last discussion I remember was that James was going to try to download and install it I think.

Right the vc.  It works well for me in FS9, although I don't fly that way.  I think it was Scott who is the vc expert/afficianado, may be time to bring him on board with this too......

I've been without a captain (in the rw) today so I've had opportunity to get on the computer and fly, I've been using the 777-200ER, I flew it from DEN to JFK last night, Sydney to Hong Kong earlier today and it flies absolutely fantastic (I greased her on in Hong Kong using just the keyboard)......I think we're almost ready to bring them online.  The only minor issue I think we have is that the fuel burn seems to be a tad on the low side, but I'm not sure it's worth messing with for fear of making it worse......

I can't help it, I love this airplane....I'd love to see a screenshot or two from FSX, cause in FS9 she looks spectacular.......this is the 777-200ER lifting off of runway 34L at YSSY.

I would say leave the fuel like it is. I agree it is a little slow, but maybe WW just got one that was made really well. I don't think it is worth messing with. My .02.

It looks exactly the same as far as I can tell. Next time I fire her up, I will see if I can send you a screenshot. I just landed in Paris in the G550 for my 4th flight of the day  I think I am going to call it quits today. These flights in Europe are as short as the ones in Africa were long. Helsinki to Paris was the longest one and it was 3 hours gate to gate..

[edit] What the heck. I just emailed them to you. Enjoy. I am not quite sure how to uploade pics here. sorry.

Yes, I was trying to get the VC to work but somehow I managed to loose every single Switch, Guage, Screen etc. from the default Cockpit view let alone the VC!
If anybody wants the link, I can send it to them because it's on my SkyDrive still!

Re: Project OpenSky 777-200LR for FSX

    James,

I would recommend starting over, just get rid of anything 777 related in your FSX.......

    Then:

    1.  Download Boeing Rollout 2005 (777-200LR - N60659) from http://www.projectopensky.com/downloads.php?aircraft=842ytv5p8&location=northamerica

    2.  Install that aircraft into FSX.  Then make sure to move the contents of the FSX folder to the proper locations.  The panel and sound folders go in the main aircraft folder, as does the aircraft.cfg, it's ok to overright the aircraft.cfg already there......

    3.  Now you need to get the vc model, you will need: VC_SP1_LR Large Cargo door (OS772LRV2--L_VC) available at:

    http://www.projectopensky.com/downloads.php?aircraft=842ytv5p8&location=modelpackage

    4.  The package above contains a model file, it and the model.cfg go in the model folder, located in the main folder of the aircraft......

    5.  You will also need 3 of the 4 downloads on this page http://www.projectopensky.com/downloads.php?aircraft=842ytv5p8&location=panelpackage

Choose whichever texture package for the vc you think your system can handle best (32 bit textures are larger files and require better graphics to run well).  The other files all have readme's with what to do in them.....the textures for the vc go in the aircraft's texture folder.........

    6.  hopefully if the install went right, the panel folder will have 4 folders in it, and 7 other files.......in order for the vc to work properly in FSX you need to change the panel.cfg as shown in this thread at POSKY:

    http://forum.projectopensky.com/index.php?showtopic=33234

Once you get all that working let me know, and we'll talk about the fde update package.........I would recommend you just try and get the vc working and not worry about the WW texturres until later.....

Re: Project OpenSky 777-200LR for FSX

James, Kim, I think I can follow those instructions without a problem if you need my help. I will leave it to James unless someone says different.

Kim, who is going to pull all this together for FSX? How are we going to get all the pieces in one place. If I you want me to do that, then I should just do the VC and be done with it.

Just thinking outloud. Bottom line is I am available to help if needed. Let me know.

I haven't gotten there yet.  I'm thinking about doing just a zip file for this airplane.  That would allow packaging both sim's versions in one download.  The only real difference for fsx will be the 2d panel.  Of course we would end up with 2 files though, one for the LR and one for the ER.

In perusing at POSKY yesterday the freighter is apparently on the way.......

James, It looks from the screenies like you..

    a.  need to install the vc model of the aircraft

    b.  the textures for the vc are missing (probably related to a)......

Re: Project OpenSky 777-200LR for FSX

Allright, I think we have agreement on all the issues that have been brought up in the last month or so.

I spoke with Scott and he has the vc up and running apparently with no issues in FSX.  My feeling is that we are on the cusp here of pushing this thing out the door.  That being said we need to do some hot and high testing with this thing, and maybe for grins some cold weather testing too....I honestly think we could release this thing by halloween, or maybe slightly sooner......

If we can get it all packaged together so I can test what we are planning to release, I will be happy to do some test flights. Just let me know. Standing by.

    Same here!

At least the VC has been sorted out, I could not fix it no matter what!!
