Mike, I never knew you flew Lazy 8 airplanes. I was a CFI at Big Brother Aircraft in Nashville while in school. Shortly after graduation I was transferred to Memphis. I gave some check rides at Lazy 8 as a part time CFI.
Do you have your log from those days? I have a bunch of time in 4047Q also in 500H.
Do you remember the owner? A German fellow named Ted who was killed some time later in an airshow. I have forgotten his last name.
There was a tall black man that was an ex B52 pilot that also was a teacher there at Lazy 8. Very nice guy but I do not remember his name either.. He was flying for Fed Ex at that time. He gave me the check ride to fly as a CFI at Lazy 8.
I remember his exact words upon completion of the CFI check, "You fly a great ship but you need to keep your head on a swivel"
