Read today that SB4 has finally cut a beta release and shipped it to VATSIM for validation.  Once VATSIM approves it, we should have squawkbox4.  This version supports FSX and FS9, XP and Vista, and should be a good replacement for the oft-maligned FSInn/FSCopilot especially on FSX.

I've had no problems with FSInn on FSX.  Any advantage to switching back to SB4, than perhaps same interface between FSX and FS2004?

I tried FSInn with FSX, and I personally didn't care for how bloated it was with unwanted features, and I personally didn't care for the user interface, either.  Too many different windows it seemed.  Squawkbox is a simple, clean application that does just what needs to be done to connect you to VATSIM and no more.  If anything will get me using FSX more often now, it is the release of SB4.

FSInn doesn't properly interpret VATSIM weather, and temperatures aloft are incorrect.  That's the main problem I've had with it.  I will give SB4 a try.

Any experience with the program yet?  Stability, interface etc...

 My system has been squirrely lately and I'm a little hesitant to install a Beta program at the moment.

 Thoughts?

I installed SB 4 and it seems to be pretty good. I have been getting a strange error message (assertion failure) but I say ignore and it seems to go away.

[edit] I am not certain that this is coming from SB. I don't even know what an assertion failure is and I have been a programmer for 40 years. When I get it I am running MSFS, Radar Contact, SB and ServInfo so not sure which is causing it.

Also, the connection drops periodically. As I recall from using SB before that has always been problematic. It is not 100% but it is good enough to use.
