    Problem Holding Alitude

Hi Guys, I am having a really big problem holding a altitude. What happens is - I set the A/P to say FL340 and the a/c will climb and reach the assigned altitude. the problem is then that the aircraft fluctuates between for example FL330 and FL350. I am unable to stop it, flaps are set to zero, no spoiler, v/s is at 0000 and we are at crusing speed - i can't see whats making this happen.

Any help would be grateful, Cheers

PS its FS9 and the problem is with the A380 from Abacus and B744 from avsim

Depending on where you are flying, you get abrupt changes in altimeter settings in MSFS. These can cause huge changes in altitude readings. That is why MSFS is always telling AI pilots that they are above or below their assigned altitude. I have never seen a 2000 ft change though. Normal is about 400 feet. It is very frustrating.

    Hi Carl,

Maybe you are to heavy for that altitude, try a lower altitude and see if the problem perisists.  I noticed this bobbing one time before and was I went to a lower altitude it stopped.  I then climbed to the higher altitude once I burned off some fuel.

    Hope this helps,

    Re: Problem Holding Alitude

Hi Guys, thanks for the info. I managed to get it sorted by changing the original aircraft.cfg information to the info given with our A388. I retried the flight in the B773 and no problems at all (even at the same alt and higher). Mike all the a/c in the surrounding area were indeed 3/400 ft above alt, so that could of been my problem. It is possible that the problem was with the weight - it stopped after i changed the .cfg as the .cfg may of have different weight settings.  I am going to put it down to the .cfg as that sorted it - but if the problem occurs again, i will try step climbs.

Thanks very much for the Info guys, much appriciated.
