Congratulations!  Don't expect a lot of participation in the forums.  The DFW hub never struck me as being into it that much, but overall they do tend to keep logging flights, so they must be finding whatever it is they want out of this VA.

Thanks Mark.  I noticed forum participation is a low, but as you said, we do get plenty of hours logged each month.  I see you are a very busy man on the forums.  Thanks for what you do for our hub and airline as a whole.

Re: Congrats on your promotion Tony!

You know, if you're looking for a hub project, you could always finish entering company routes for the DFW routes.  I got through the TP and RJ routes and some of the NB/WB routes when I was still working on it.  Of course, I was also flying the routes first, then entering them, which was not a particularly efficient process. Smile

I'm still pursuing my goal of flying every DFW route on VATSIM, but at last count I still have about 33 US routes with the 737 to go.  Then there's Mexico, Central America.  Not to mention the WB routes.  Mercifully fewer of them, but they tend to be long-hauls to Europe and South America, which was never quite my bag.  I may just stop at the NB routes.  Taylor Cleghorn may have actually flown them all, the guy was a regular machine.  He either preferred controlling on VATSIM, or just got burned out flight simming as I haven't seen him on the active list for some time now.  Come to think of it, haven't exactly seen him controlling on VATSIM lately, either.

Re: Congrats on your promotion Tony!

I'll be more than happy to get in on this.  I just want to make sure I understand what we're doing here.  From the 'manage company routes' page you're going through the ones that don't have a company route yet and adding one in.  Is that correct?  If so, I've seen serveral places to find routes for flights, so where are you getting the info from.  I've seen some sites that give you every way point imaginable for a flight, and I've seen some that give you four or five.  I noticed you are doing four or five waypoints in your routes.  I personnally like that since I know I don't want to enter about 20 waypoints into FS before I take a flight.

I definitely am wanting to help, so if I'm on the right track let me know and I'll go with it.  If I'm not on the right track, steer me there and I'll get on it.

yes that is correct.  I added maybe 20 or 30 of them back in feb.  Some are harder to find or you may have to make them up yourself

Re: Congrats on your promotion Tony!

You can find routes for most airport pairs from simroutes.com.  I believe these are considered "preferred" routes for VATSIM.  You can also look up flights on Flight Aware to see the routes being used by the airlines in real-time.

There is also a report available to hub managers that will list all the routes that pilots have entered on their PIREPs.  You'll need to pick through some "garbage" to find good routes though.  Not everyone enters a valid flight route string, and they're not required to enter anything at all.

Re: Congrats on your promotion Tony!

I found a route on a different route finder site, but since simroutes.com is the preferred, I'll use that.  They were pretty much the same anyway.  I know I said I'll start with the Mexico routes, but I'm actually gonna do all of them that start with a "M" for the ICAO code.  I just flew to Guatemala City, and am going to load that route momentarily.

Re: Congrats on your promotion Tony!

I noticed an error on one of KAFW's cargo routes, RTE# 4739.  Flight WWC12A's first leg goes from KAFW-KSJT.  The flight time says 2hr 8min.  The return flight from KSJT-KAFW (WWC12B) states 1hr 8 min.  I flew the flight myself and it only takes about 1 hour.  I don't think I can change cargo routes, so can someone change the WWC12A flight to read 1hr 8 mins and adjust the times accordingly.  Thanks.
