    KATL Runway 10-28 for FS-2004

For anyone using the FS-2004 KATL hub sceneries, you can now download a revision (REV-A) that will add runway 10-28 and its associated taxiways. It also adds 4 fire stations and some building signs, as well as fixes a couple of other taxiways.  This scenery is compatible with the other three, but MUST BE INSTALLED LAST.  If you install this scenery and then install any of the other three, the new AFCAD will be overwritten and will have to be reinstalled.  Also, it is very important that you read the "readme" file for activation instructions. There is an extra step required that is normally not needed.

Bob,  I just d/l the scenery for ATL and I must say it is top notch.  I am flying in there tomorrow and wanted to be able to park at our charter ramp and have the possibility to land in 10/28.

Thanks to your hard work that is possible.

I will be adding the rest of your work to my machine.  I already have MIA, and DEN

Thanks for the compliment Phil! Building Rwy 10-28 was a real challenge because it is so far out from the default airport property. For that reason it required a modification of the underlying texture, which I had never done before.  The new runways at KDEN, KMIA and KSEA were on the default airport property, so they were pretty straight forward.  The next challenging hub will be KCVG since it also has a new runway off the default property. I will save that one for last (Sorry KCVG pilots) because it is so time consuming.  I expect to be providing an upgrade to the KATL RWY 10-28 approaches.  Jim Vile has promised to build the approaches for us using the latest navaids. He did Denver for us as well.  I have not been able to build those elaborate approaches. Mine are basic straight in approaches.

Bob, not sure how much help this would be, but on AVSIM under FSX AVCAD files there is a KCVG addition. It added all the taxi ways, the new runway and changed all the runway numbers to match the charts. I added that to my scenery and it looks really good. As far as approaches though I don't think those were part of the file. I guess visual would be the way to land on the addition.

I did only look for FSX. Not for 2004.

I know that there are AFCAD files available with the new runway.  I have one for FS-2004.  The problem, at least with most FS-2004 AFCAD revisions is that the taxi signs are not included, or are in the wrong locations after moving runways/taxiways. This is because the AFCAD-2 did not handle taxi signs. Also, if I were to use someone elses work, I need to get permission to do so.  I generally have to make so many modifications to those files to fit our scenery that it is usually easier to start from scratch.
