Textures Gone?

    Textures Gone?

Load up FSX one day and 3/4 of my textures (liveries) are gone.  All my aircraft are there, but for example, I have the default Boeing 738 texture, but not the WW texture.

Any suggestions on what is going on?

I backed up everything and re-installed FSX and I'm still getting the same problem.

    Thanks for any info,

    Re: Textures Gone?

Did you check the little box that says "Show all variations" or something like that on the airplane choices screen (sorry I'm not at a computer that has FSX right now)?. If you don't, it will show just one of each kind of aircraft, not all the available textures.

If that is not the issue, you can check two other things:

1 - is there a WW texture folder in the particular airplane's folder in "Simobjects"?

2- does the 'aircraft.cfg' file have an entry [Fltsim.xx] pointing to that Westwind texture?

If so, and you're still not seeing it then I am at a loss!

Good luck, write back to let us know if/when you solve the problem...

    Re: Textures Gone?

Wasn't one of the obvious fixes.  I restored Windows to a previous date (before the problems).  That seemed to make a redundant copy of FSX, which I then re-installed and reloaded a backed up version of my add-on aircraft.  However, since reinstalling SP1 and SP2, the program is freezing--primarily on the taxiways.  Only having freeze problems in free flight--missions running fine.  So just some nagging issues to resolve.  Will be playing troubleshooter over the weekend.

    Thanks for the suggestions.

Good luck, Matt...sorry it wasn't a quick fix for you.

One thing I always do now at the first sign of trouble is go into My Documents\Flight Simulator X Files and delete the logbook.  It seems like once that thing gets corrupted all youknowwhat breaks loose!

    Re: Textures Gone?

Finally things seem to be up and running smoothly (knock on wood).  I did have to uninstall SP2 and I will not be adding it back on.

It is issues like what I have been experiencing that make me revisit the "FS9 vs. FSX" posts and wonder if it isn't worth the $35 investment to return to the older and seemingly more stable version.

By the way, I have had to delete the logbook on occasion.  Luckily that is an easy fix.  I wish there was a way to turn that stupid thing off.
